Ick is not Saproligina. Ick is Ichthyophthirius multifiliis.

It looks like physical damage to the fish that resulted in a bacterial infection. Spawning, poor handling when caught, etc., etc. Anytime the slime coat is disturbed, it allows a path to infection. The more that the fish is stressed, the easier it is for the infection to get a foothold.
