In my (limited) experience, southern ponds seem to have more fertile waters than northern ponds. All of the ponds and lakes with crystal clear water that I have seen were in the northern U.S. or Canada.
As a gross generalization, are northern ponds (and therefore SMB ponds) more likely to benefit from deliberate fertilization efforts to create a plankton bloom one or more times per year? (Assuming all of the other water chemistry factors are correct.)
