Hope you can find a contractor that can dig a quality pond, and not just a hole. That is where the challenge is. Ours was good at digging holes, not tight ponds. When it came to less than perfect clay at our home, it was leaky!
We were able to resolve it using polymer products, and now we lose water at a hair faster than evaporation. No springs to keep it topped off in the summer.
Side question, is the reservoir suitable for kayaking?
