Don’t use fresh oak. I once used a bunch of it in a 1/4 acre pond. The water turned black and everything died. It has tannins that are toxic/lethal to fish. I now use cedars.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
