I recently am have a big problem in my pond for some reason after I did this last Alum/ hy lime treatment. I did this treatment a few months ago the same way, and never had these issues. I needed to re-do the treatment because I prematurely did it last time before fully stabilizing my banks and controlling the runoff. Anyway about two weeks later my PH is way high, and also my ammonia and nitrite levels are also very high. I am unable to check alk and hardness because I ran out of strips (will have them tomorrow), but the pond test kit I have tests Ammonia / Ph/ nitrite / and phos. It is that standard test vile kit (pond water test kit). I tested my ph mid day and I’m 9.4-9.5 and remains that way throughout the day. At night and early morning my ph lowers a little to 8.6-8.8. I also have a digital PH tester. My ammonia and nitrite levels keep increasing every day, and I can tell the fish are stressed. The alum / hyd. Lime treatment I did exactly like the first time. 50lbs of alum to 20lbs of the lime. Has anyone ever had something like this happen? Pond is just shy of 1/4 acre, and has a bog system and a fountain. Water is also now a green color and visibility is as if I never did the alum. I did try and treat algae about 3-4 weeks ago, but I never had this PH problem and ammonia / nitrite problem till now. Nervous im going to loose all the fish, and please any advice will help a lot.
