Question for the board.
Our family has quite a bit of private water. In the hundreds of acres. We are in the process of starting the build of a shock boat. Of course if you buy ready to shock it looks like pricing is around 80k. Good news for us is we have the boat and motor so we need the hardware to get the project started. I've priced both Midwest and smith root, the largest expense looks to be shocker.
Question is does anyone have a used one they would like to sell? Our application is not commercial use at this point, we just have so much different water we want to be able to manage our bass population. Shocking along with catching would really help out the process.
My position in our family business is safety manager, so not looking to forgo safety for a cheap device, but since we are not using to make a profit I need to be as economical as possible since we plan to let the company purchase the equipment.
If anyone has any information please let me know.
Thanks for any assistance.

Welcome to the forum. Talk to those companies to see if they have any trade-in equipment. They typically do.

25+ years experience with Smith Root... Go another route if possible and plan to modify the design to fit your needs. Most are designed for the buyers to finish the fine tuning.
The best designs now use unpainted hulls and have no electrodes hanging or attached to front of boat, only the spiders are used.

I did request, so far nothing. Figured someone here might know where one might be that is not in use.

Scampbell, used, WORKING electrofishing boats are like finding the end of the rainbow. Finding the equipment to add to a boat to make it worthy of electrofishing is something I would only recommend if you have the guidance of a knowledgeable, seasoned operator, to help you obtain the best equipment for your boat-if I understood correctly, you have a boat- and want to add from there.
Something that is important is having a heavy-built boat for this. Most are built to have the front in a position it's not far above the water for 2 reasons, one is getting in tight to low hanging areas and two, the wind has little affect on side area so you can hold the nose in position long enough to roll certain fish that require several seconds to roll out.
Like everything, there IS some science to electrofishing too, just like the fishery itself.
And as I said above, beware of Smith-root equipment, we've had issues every time we had a problem with State vessels and ended up specing out new equipment to meet needs.
