Recently got home that has a pond on it. There is a lot of algae in it. Had someone from a pond company come out to give advice on how to treat. He said we have duckweed, watermeal and filamentous. He recommended Cutrine. However when I research that product it doesn't work for duckweed. So I did a chat with another company and they recommended Airmax KnockDown 2-In-1 Algae & Weed Control. Anyone use these products? Do they work? Any advice is appreciated.

Personally not a fan of chemical treatments unless they can't be avoided. Do you have any pond plants that you like in the water? If you do.....the pros will need to know what you have, and maybe a pic or two if you need help identifying them.

Size of the pond?

Depth of the pond?

The plants can be treated with chems. I'd be cautious on treating when it's hot as it could cause the pond to crash as the plants die and decay. If you don't remove them they will decay releasing their nutrients back into the water to start the cycle over again as well. You might have to treat sections of the pond at a time until you get it under control.

Natural choices would be grass carp (sterile) and or tilapia if you can get them in your area.

While I haven't used those exact products (Airmax), I have used products that have that active ingredient in them. The Airmax Knockdown 2 in 1 is what you want to use. The Flumi was formulated for Duckweed and Watermeal, and it also works on FA.

While the natural route is preferred, there are some things that laugh at the natural route. Those problematic plants are one of those things. I have not seen a pond with Duckweed or Watermaal that has been cleared of them and kept clear by using natural means. Even FA, you have to use Flumi or Cutrine Plus to get it whacked back, THEN the tilapia will keep it under control.
