That bass could be thin for more reasons than just a lack of proper sized forage.
It could have a plastic lure, or other obstruction in it's digestive path, or just be sick in general.
Also, I'm not saying that the fish does not have an injury, but to me, if that fish had some meat on it, I think the thoughts of injury would be far less.
