I hope I'm not posting this twice. I have a moss showing up at the pond that I have not seen before. Please help identify. The picture is a section of it that is close to shore next to grass that was cut a few weeks ago. Is the grass in the pond the cause of this or just coincidence. It is showing up spotty across the pond but there is a pond a few miles away that looks like it is nearly completely covered with, from a distance looks like the same stuff. Is this harmful to fish or people? Please let me know what if anything I need to do.
It seems to form mostly in very nutrient-rich ponds. Or ponds that have been recently fertilized, or ponds that have had fertilizer wash in after a big rain event such as cow manure or ag fertilizer.
Any of those happen to you? (I guess your cut grass into the pond would slightly increase the nutrients?)
