So I was all gearing up to look at a possible clearing muddy water treatment when I sent this off. My water hadn't cleared up much since filling even with the ice we had on the water over the winter.
I was pleasantly surprised as with the spring rains filling the pond (4-5" short of full pool atm). In some of the other posts I've made I showed a couple of pics of blooms that we had experienced over a couple of week period. Now what I thought was never going to happen.....has happened. Seemingly overnight (really about a week) the pond water clarity has changed. I think some of this has to do with the water level reaching our riprap border vs being right below it. Some of it probably has to do with the water maturing a little and the bloom. We can now see fish, and edges/outlines of underwater features.
I am curious about the PH. Our original test we set in had a PH of 6.55 returned. and this one 3 months later at 8.93. I have never seen a low or a high in this area when I have tested. My results are pretty much between 7 and 8 every time I'm on site with the test kit. Not disputing the result they are getting, what I'm curious about is can this value change over time as the water sets in a bottle for a few days?
Alkalinity and Hardness are spot on what what I'm seeing on site.
Thoughts on the salt recommendation?
Don't think we will be working on water clarity at this point with Alum Sulfate. Pond has gone from chocolate milk to 20-22" of secchi disk reading. First round of fertilizer was added yesterday.
