A few questions I had:
1. Can there be too many blue tilapia in the pond? Sometimes I’ll see 40 or 50 adult tilapia in the 2 to 6 pound class cruising around (yes, 6 pounds – we hold the Texas state record). Absolutely if the tilapia overwinter in your location, then you can have far too many and burden your carrying capacity. That can lead to a high % of your biomass being in tilapia with the potential for a die-off of the lake. That's the reasoning behind why it's illegal to stock Blue Tilapia in Texas.
