What do u guys do about the grass around the pond? I had to weed eat the grass and it all flies into the pond. My pond is only .21 acres. Is there any other way to maintain the grass?

You must be keeping a neat looking place. I mow down to about 1'-2' from the water's edge and let the grass (and, to be honest, weeds) right next to the pond go almost all Summer. I back the (rear-mount) mower deck over the edge a few times at different places when I mow to make better access points for fishing. This holds the amount of floating clippings down to a minimum. Other than snagging fishing lines for a few days, they don't bother me.

For .21 acres, it probably wouldn't take to much rock to put rip-rap around the edges where you weedwack. Maybe someone with rip-rap can comment on tons/foot of shoreline and subsequent maintenance.

I have centipede grass planted, and intend to let it creep right down the water. I have seen this done before, and it helps a little with wave erosion. Centipede needs little maintenance besides mowing, and is real good about choking out weeds and rough grasses.
