I am not a pond builder, but I think the ponds that match the "lay of the land" generally look the best.
Is there a little draw running into the side of your pond site, make that a cove. A little bump of high ground, extend a peninsula out from there.
I can't see the house in the photo. Where is the house?
Generally, the water view is best when the long-axis of the pond is in the same azimuth as the sight line.
Good luck on your pond project! I like your site with cleared land that will have forest boundaries.
