Pond Boss Forums STOCKING A NEW POND Types of fish to choose Yellow perch spawn year round?

I am assuming this is a misprint, but maybe this is a thing. I had never heard of yellow perch spawning at anytime other than just after early spring, usually just after ice out. Any thoughts? I do realize that they have a reputation of questionable claims, but maybe it's a thing.

I bet that is the cut and paste monster striking again. How similar is that language to what they show for BG?

YP do not spawn "year round". Just like other pond fish they spawn depending on water temp and photoperiod..

In a laboratory setting or in an indoor aquaculture setting where you can manipulate water temp and photoperiod, you can get Walleye to spawn every month of the year. Not the same females and males though. My wag would be that each fish could only spawn once a year.

If you read the Zetts 'catalog' looking for technical information, you'll probably not be so happy, or at least be confused.

Their fish, however, are very good. I've bought fish there for years with no problems.

I believe this to be true of perch , walleye and sauger as they have to go through a thermal cycle for eggs to properly develop.
The cold side is what matters most.
