Assure that you caulk the seams and sight windows.
They can leak, jam everything up and burn up the motor.
Been there, done that.
If you never get rain at your pond, can you just skip the caulking step?

P.S. I am still performing rain dances for our Pond Boss members in your neck of the woods. I see the central Texas drought region has been expanding to the east and down to the Gulf Coast. I must have some of my steps wrong.
