I'm located in Central Nebraska. 13 months ago my 3/4 acre pond turned over after severe a hail storm and massive amounts of runoff came through my pond. For five days we cleaned up dead fish but we maintained hope that we still had enough for the fish to reestablish themselves. From July through late November I had a near solid mat of duckweed across the entire pond. So far this year I've caught one small bass and a few small bluegill but in general the pond feels dead. Bullhead (which I had under control) have made strong comeback and are the only thing that comes up for feed when the feeder runs. I do not see any activity around the shoreline. My water quality looks good and algae is under control. I've discussed it with the local hatchery and I have decided its time to kill anything that is alive and start over. Is rotenone my best option for killing the fish? Is now a good time? I do have a private applicators license.
