Thanks for the comment, those big trees are native to southern Louisiana, Cypress trees. They form those big knees along edge which is how they breathe oxygen to them. They were used by our Cajun ancestors to build homes and everything because they have a natural insect repellent oil in the wood. I planted them when they were only 5 feet high, they love water.

Yep. I do like cypress trees. (In the correct, soggy places.)

The previous owners of our house had planted one in our yard, on the top of hill, in the drier part of Kansas. I watered the crap out of it for several years, and it survived, but never truly thrived due to the tough conditions.

I finally had to ask my wife if we could "let it go". It subsequently died the next hot summer. I moved the water bill money over to the kids' college accounts!
