If the pond is designed mostly for kiddos, then please add one section that DOES NOT have a steeply sloped bank.
With enough pond usage, someone will eventually go into the pond. Steep, clay banks are impossible to climb. One effective pond "exit" is a good safety addition.
Further, that area may be used for spawning or other shallow water beneficial needs as part of your pond organisms' life cycles.
Good luck on your project! You will be amazed how productive a well-managed small pond in Texas can be.
