As I get ready to tackle evaluating and managing around 20 ranch ponds ranging from 3/4 acre to 40 acres, I was curious what Apps or Technological resources does anyone use and recommend?

Two iPhone apps that I use quite often are onX Hunt and Distance Measure.

onX Hunt is a very powerful map/tracking tool. It is one of those apps you can’t really believe is Free. It is geared towards hunting, but I use it for marking brush piles, underwater trees, fish catch locations, etc. You can zoom way in for accurate placement of waypoints and there are several different icons you can use. For each waypoint you can upload pictures, add notes, see the wind/weather for that location, etc. I could see many ways this app could be useful for someone managing a pond. Especially someone like me managing several.

The Distance Measure app is a very simple app that easily allows you to measure distance between points or the area of several points. I used this app to verify the size of all of my ponds. You could also use it to estimate your watershed size.

What other Apps or Technology do you guys recommend for either managing your pond or evaluating fish?
