Well this I have to share..........this weekend I headed out to my 13 acre pond to check on water level which seems to be holding despite the East Texas drought. I need about 4 plus feet of water to finish filling this less than one year old pond. I invited a lady for a romatic evening for an outdoor dinner. The pond sits in the middle of 125 wooded acres with the nearest neighbor miles away. After a bottle of wine and a pleasant time she comments that the water must be rather warm like bath water and I promise her it's spring fed and cold enough to surprise her since only last weekend I took a swim. I told her that this dock was built on the edge of the deepest portion with a sandy bottom just for swimming She smiles and without a moment's hesitation strips of her clothes and walks in. Visions of my childhood youth send my head spinning and I join this lovely lady. Towards sun down I'm doing my best to be a gentleman and keep her warm and right at that moment a school of 10 plus bass hit the surface schooling less than 100 yards away and all I can say to her from that moment on.................."WOW! Look at those those F1 Bass tearing into those Threadfins shad!!".......................How far past 40 does a guy have to be to blow a moment like that..............LOL

I would have done the same thing. But, I would probably have streaked for a fishin pole and a topwater. I would probably have done it at 20 yoa.

Sometimes you just need to know when to keep your mouth shut. See there is another reason to build a pond or lake.

19 times out of 20, that comment about the F1s and shad will ruin it for you. But that 20th time, when the lady says "You should stock tilapia. I hear they're great forage for bass." it's magic.

That's the one you propose to. Unless she outfishes you.

stick with your pond, its much cheaper, especially since it was a tough call between the romance and fishing>

LakeL,
That is funny and sad at the same time. Reminds me of the e-mail joke of the retired guy who's wife told him to find a hobby. So he took up bass fishing- met a buddy named Gerry- they fished all the time and his wife was releived to have him out of the house. Until she met Gerry- a buxom blond in skimpy fishing attire.

Romance and bass fishing combined- hmmm!

I had an old Colonel tell me that marriage is grand....and divorce is 100 grand$$$! Now which is cheaper, that marriage (and subsequent divorce) or your pond?

You can fish anytime. You can't have romance anytime.
