I live on an urban lake. See

There are about 250 homes surrounding the lake. The lake is about 130 acres.
Everyone around the lake uses fertilizers on there yards for their lawns. A lot of the dirt in our yards is made up from dredging material when the lake was built and there is a lot of shale in the soil.
I am looking for info on the best fertilizers and weed killers to use on yards that backup to a lake.
I want to pass this info on to the homeowners who live on the lake.
Does anyone have any suggestions or know of any websites that deal with this issue?
