We used to live in Germany where both my wife and I had hunting permits. There, a group owns the hunting rights to an area. Part of their job is to control (and pay for any damage made by) wild boars. To this end, they MUST have at least one hunter watching the property 24-7, 365 days a year. Obviously they don't kill all of the wild boars but they sure do keep the population down.
