Great site! I have a very small pond used for horse watering, about 40' by 50', roughly rectangular, average depth about 2'. The pond/property was abandoned for about 10 years before I bought the place 3 years ago. The pond was overgrown with cattails when we bought. In the first year, I cleared them out with a machete and the help of the horses, who liked to eat the resulting new shoots. The second year brought a thin coating of green scum which the copper stuff (plus a few pool chlorine tabs) gradually eliminated (but took a while!). This year, I have a thin coating of bubbly brownish scum. Any advice regarding what it is and how to treat? There are tons of frogs/tadpoles/waterbugs in the pond, but no fish (that I know of!). Maybe some carp would help?
