Q1- I just recently found out that I have catfish in my pond. When he comes out of the water to eat food on the surface, you can see a red and swelly mark on his lip. I think it Is this from being cought before, would you think so? :rolleyes: Q2- I have been feeding them catfood and they like that...but is it healthy (protein)?? There are also brim and bass.....would they eat catfood too?

Hi Luke,
Catfish are pretty disease free critters, so I wouldn't worry. Keep an eye on the population and don't worry unless it becomes widespread.
It may be nothing more than fighting with another catfish, running into something, or rooting on the bottom for food. I had a 5 pounder on a stringer one time and a big one had him almost swallowed until I scared him off. There was blood in the water.
