Thx FireIsHot - great example!

Well - I like to measure as much as necessary prior to cutting and found a good article on the difference between Bald and Pond Cypress.

As my property is above 1,000' MSL - this seems to rule out the ones I have being Pondcypress.

Quote
Bald cypress trees can grow at higher elevations than pond cypress, up to a maximum known elevation of 1,750 feet. Even then, the trees growing at this elevation are very isolated. Pond cypress trees are unlikely to grow at elevations even above 100 feet, according to the USDA Forest Service. So, if you’re cruising around at 1,000-foot elevation and see one of these trees, you can bet it’s a bald cypress, not a pond cypress.

Baldcypress are more prevalent at nurseries and actually cheaper so that's good news for me!

got 34 x 3'-4' Bald Cypress planted last weekend with the help of my son and a USAFA cadet I sponsored when stationed at Peterson AFB, CO. He's now a retired LtCol... I am OLD!

If I'm around in 15-20 years it'll be great to walk along - if not my son will enjoy.

I put them at roughly waterline, still have 5" or so to go to the overflow.
