It is my belief that these birds target bass! I believe this because the shape of the bass makes them easier to swallow. I also only caught bass, no other type of fish, that had the tell tale scissor cut in their back. My biggest concern now is for those expensive hsb that I just stocked. Is there no other way to dicourage them but to be present. I live an hour away from my pond.
