I was fishing at a friend's pond a few years back using a texas rigged worm for LMB. I got a good bite, wound up and set the hook really well. The problem was that my hands were still wet from catching a fish and they slipped right off the pole. I about fell down as I watched my rod and reel sink out of sight.

I was sick to my stomach...not only had I lost my rod and reel but what I figured was a nice bass. The guy I was fishing with says "Let's just put on some deep diving crank baits and try to snag the line. I looked at him like he was mentally incapacitated but said fine...it's worth a shot.

He puts on this enormous diving crankbait, casts out one time, reels in and hands me my line and gives me a "told ya stupid" look. I pulled my rod and reel up out of the water and started to reel the line in but had a snag. We moved over to the edge where the snag was, looked down and there was a 3 pound bass wrapped around a submerged tree on the end of my line. My friend took credit for catching the bass even though it was on the end of my pole. \:\)
