270 is also my caliber of choice. I am sort of drifting away from deer hunting and really loving the spring turkey hunt more and more. still do some deer hunting tho.

Our local turkey population is growing, but I will not consider hunting them until the flocks are bigger. Saw a tom with 4 hens this year which is the most birds I've seen in one group on our place. I really enjoy the deer archery season!
Does anyone know of a source for camo overalls that do not include light colors? I know this is all the rage with modern customers, but my experience and success leads me to favor the older style camo with dark colors that matches the tree trunk that I sit against. I have tried Google and even though I include "-bib" in my "shopping" search, and specify "verbatim", most of what comes up are bibs and none of the coveralls exclude bright white patches.
These are Cabela branded. Not insulated. But I orser a shoe size larger so I can easily extract myself from them if they fill with water (used primarily for fishing) but this space also allows me to layer comfortably inside them.
A well placed shot is always something to be proud of, especially when made by young hunters. Keep up the good mentoring! Indiana recently allowed high-power rifles (I use a 270 Win now), and so far no one has shot me. Earlier they started allowing pistol-caliber rifles.
LOL Indiana has (at least for as long as I can remember) allowed "high powered" rifle cartridges in pistols. .243 up to 50 BMG if you could handle it in a pistol. Both public and private ground. The "High Powered" rifles are only allowed on private ground the past few years.
I think it's funny. All the big arguments about how the deer herd will be decimated and how many people and buildings will be shot the first season that they allow "High Powered" rifles. The deer harvest really didn't change at all, and there were no instances of someone/something getting shot.
I just wish they would leave the regs alone for a while. I still think they should have a season just for compound bows. I just cannot justify taking my compound to the woods when I can choose a crossbow. My accuracy at longer ranges is just too much better with the crossbow. Maybe a compound season the last 2 weeks of September?
