I would like to know if anybody has used a swimming pool test kit to check akalinity and ph of there lake water? Would this be a good way to check the water? Also what should the akalinity and PH be. If is test kit is right mine is 100 on akalinity and 8.2 PH.

Those values sound in the "ball park" for your region and soil types. Expect the swimming pool test kit to be within about plus or minus 10 to maybe 30 ppm of the actual akalinity value.

I found the alkilinity measure to be too far off to be helpful.
