james holt Lunker J Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 1,721 gainesville texas	The ponds in my area of north Texas all have large areas of algae growing along the shore line. I assume this is filamentous blue green algae. What is causing this sudden bloom and what is the best way to control it? Will grass carp or talapia eat this stuff?

turkeyfootnc Lunker T Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 168 N.C.	The only time I have ever saw grass carp after we released them was I saw one eating green colored algae growing on a limb in the pond. In my opinion, grass carp will help control some, not all algae in a pond.
