I'm sorry I missed the question on recommended feed...for a gereral purpose starter feed with cats and BG and fatheads, its hard to beat Purina Game Fish Chow, IMHO. It comes with several different sizes combined in the bag which is great for small and larger fish. Feed at least two times a day, more often if your feeder will support that.
