During a near epic rain, my pond got flooded by a nearby swamp/wetland. The result was the water went from 3' vis to 18" and tea brown overnight. It has been 2 weeks with very little change except the color is more of a muddy brown. During that time I added over a ton of lime per acre and kept my aerators running 24/7. The initial insult dropped my alkalinity from mid40's to mid30's (glad I had limed this winter). My question is... any thoughts on how to clear the water a bit so I can start up my fertilization program? I dont believe the problem is with suspended clay so many of the water clearing 'tricks' prolly wont work. The good news is it didnt seem to have any adverse effects on my fish. I didnt find any floaters and they are still feeding aggressively. Would appreciate any helpful suggestions.
