Friends,

I had some drone photos done recently and would like to get input on sketching out my pond site (fishing, recreational). Per the attached pic showing about 5 acres, any advice on layout and orientation? We're trying to keep as many trees as possible but realize we must lose some for the pond. A good deal of the trees are 5-7 years old/new growth with a few mature pines.

Of note, I'm working with a reputable pond guy and am having soil tests done. Field tests show decent plasticity in the pictured area and average rainfall should support a 1-1.75 acre pond. The pond man will on site soon to start detailed planning.

Also, I attached a "clean" pic in case you'd like to review in detail and add your own sketch / recommendation.

Thanks for any help,

Joe

I'm not sure if I need one. The location is very flat with little change in elevation (perhaps a 5' change).

I don't own much land on the west (left in picture) side so if I had a dam and/or spillway it would have to be to the east (top in pic).

I have both "Just Add Water" and "Perfect Pond" books from the forum so I'll have to give the dam and spillway sections a re-read.
