i have a pond that is about 1/2 acres and it is probably an average of about 10 feet deep.i used aquashade on it when it still had about 4 feet left to fill up completely. I am definitely no expert in this area, but it worked out fine for me.The forage fish fathead minnows, native bluegills, redear sunfish, and channel cats that were already stocked all survived.

It may take awhile for the suspended solids to settle especially if the water surface is not in a rock apron (if you have one)It seems that Aquashade with its yellow dye mixed with the blue dye make a body of water with clay suspension look very green (may not be a bad thing)If you are looking into more of an aqua blue clear apperance look for a dye with just blue acid (Crystal Blue) for example. As far as timing do you have any fish in it yet. Realize that if you are not aerating that as the water warms it will hold less DO, also if you shade the water you will produce less DO from plants and algaes. Your BOD is low now but the demand will only increase as the pond comes to life.Just be sure what your trying to accomplish with your dye is not counter productive to other functions that need to take place in your pond to make it has healthy as it can be. Good Luck Ted
