I have a 3 to 4 acre lake that is fed by a 2" pipe from a waterwell. I have it elbowed off in the middle of the lake and am coming straight up to discharge water. (I was told that this would areate the lake better than just having the water spill into it from the side). Right now, it just bubbles out of the end of the pipe.

Has any one found an inexpensive way to have it discharge from the pvc as a fountain. I went to a couple of the retail websites and $1,000 for a nozzle is a little high for me. I thought about reducing the 2" down to a smaller pipe and then putting a sprinkler type nozzle on there. Any ideas?

I'm with you; before I dropped a grand on a nozzle I'd make a trip to the hardware store and try some less elegant alternatives (of course, that's just a cheapskate plumber's son talking).

What kind of a setup do you have on the well? If it pumps into a pressure tank with a pressure switch controlling the pump you should be able to drop the flow into the pond down as small as you want. If there are no controls and the pump runs straight into the 2" line, you will probably have to branch your 2" line into several smaller lines, each hooked up to some sort of sprinkler/nozzle, to keep the flow rate up and avoid possible pump damage.

Hi CB, i feed my pond through a 1" pipe from a well. I took a shower head and attached it to a piece of 3/4 inch pipe and then attached it to the feed. It puts out a real good pattern as you can see from this shot 50 ft above the pond hanging off my radio tower.

Another positive thing to keep in mind is many modern high quality well pumps can handle down sizing the out flow without any damage. At least that is what my well pump manufacturer and well driller said.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
