That looks like the perfect size. Easy to siene out when needed. Congrats looks like the plan came together beautiful.

So far, so good. Need to finish landscaping the berm and around the outside of that, but I've got a feeling that will have to wait for the sub-soil to re-coagulate.
I expect it's going to need a couple or three freeze/thaw cycles for that to happen. For now I'm just happy that it's full of water.

Are you worried about it overflowing? o rnah bc its just baitfish?

Have you put any structure in it yet? Are they taking to pellets. I want one of these now lol. My wife would give me the side eye. It took like 2 years to do the work on my pond.

Overflow is not a major concern. It's possible for the creek to rise enough to get into the pond, but the worst thing that would do is allow some bait to escape.
I've put a couple hundred yoy BG/HBG in already, and I'm catching 20-30 more every day out of the front yard cow pond.

I'm not planning to add any structure other than a pallet stack in one corner for FHM spawning. I want to keep it open so I can drag a seine without it getting hung up.

The water is clearing nicely now that it's full. The BG/HBG hear me coming and stack up on the bank waiting for pellets. They get a cup of Optimal Jr. every evening, and I toss another two cups of cheap catfish food for the crayfish.
