Hello Rowly, Never seen these kind of ducks till the other day. According to the book I have they look like a Hooded Merganser. Never seen them around here before. Usually just Mallards, Wood ducks, etc. They are kinda pretty but definetly divers not surface feeders. Have some Rails in the summer and a few Cranes some other kind of wader sometimes. It's a pretty busy pond.
