Unfortuantely I wouldn't know. All I know is conversion would probably be 10:1 for live feed vs. probably 2:1 on pellets. But a fish on live feed my be healthier and live longer.

Fish was about 46 months old and weighed 2.81 lbs.

But you do think the fish were utilizing BOTH, right? Were you able to observe perch feeding on pellets at any time? Do you think that they are the least agressive of the fish in your pond, and thereby get beat to the groceries?

In your estimation, what would be the best time of day to feed if you were to try to favor the perch?

I'm really curious about these things because next year will be the first time that I have significant numbers of yellow perch in a recreational pond.

Not sure. I did see some perch feeding on pellets early in the year, but once the bass got active very, very, rarely did I observe them or not at all. Later in the season I did not observe any perch feeding. However farther out there were some fish feeding that could have been perch, but they acted more like small bass.

Absolutely. They are quite timid with the bass around. When they did rarely come up it was very quickly and back down again.

They seem to be most active close to evening and I have read this in literature also. Seems contradictory to tyical wild perch though doesn't it?

I thought is was quite funny Bruce. No offense taken whatsoever even if you do want to beat my perch. More power to you. I'd probably be as excited as you if you grew one bigger.

I'm actually disappointed I haven't had any new entries on my private pond record fish site. Meadowlark was going to enter his Talipia but he never sent in his entry form. I hope he still does! My site looks like a one man record show!

BTW you should see me on a couple other sites when I get too much caffiene in the system. I get downright mean!
