Here in Oklahoma you can buy gypsum decorator rock which is roughly 2" in diameter. Comes in bulk like gravel. You can spread it on a windy shore where waves break on it. That is what I did to settle the suspended clay in my pond and it worked great. The powdered or finely divided stuff does not go very far or last very long.
