This sounds like a cross between a Marine DI and a 30 year Bosun Mate. And I loved your description of your Dad. Mine only spent 2 years in the Army but he was a big fan of discipline. I was on the receiving end of that discipline on many occasions After a few years in the Navy I was able to appreciate my Dads approach much more than I did as a teenager. I found that after my first 10 years in the Navy that I was sounding more and more like my Dad all the time!
