Animals. I have been in your situation many years ago. This is what I have learned.
Bass largemouth and smallmouth are sport fish and most sport fish belong at least in a pond setting with at least thousands of gallons. If you are a beginner with this, first start by raising goldfish or some other fish that is better suited for life in a tank or container. As you gain experience raisisng fish, and this process will no doubt end up killing numerous undeserving fish and as more money becomes available for raising larger fish then move up to raising a bluegill or green sunfish. These fish adjust well to tank life and can be aggressive to live foods similar to a bass.
One or two small 2"-3" bass should be in a tank that holds a minimum of 50 gallons of water and several real good power water filters so the fish can adequately eat, swim, excercise and grow and not have to live in a small area with its daily waste products/manure. Putting any size bass in a tank smaller than 50 gallons is like making you live only in your room or a prison cell and you are not allowed out.
