Had 3 water turkey scouts stop by the pond today. I don't mind most predatory birds. We have at various times little blue herons, an occasional great blue and green herons. All are interesting additions to the pond despite their thieving ways.
But
I hear bad things about these water turkeys. Particularly that the first scouts can bring a mess of friends and clean out a pond.
The dog spooked them for a bit, but they returned. They are not shy. I ended up scaring them away with very loud noises. If they come back I'll consider obtaining a Texas Cormorant Control Permit.
