I had my wife's attorney look into superworms. At first he said that I could not keep them on the premises, but after informing him that Bill Cody would be representing me in any legal proceedings he gave in and said that I could buy a refrigerator for the garage.

I couldn't find a picture of a superworm on their website. What am I doing wrong?
Bruce- How much to ship the night crawlers to NE? And did Bob Lusk ever get in touch with you? He has ben busy trying to put the finishing touches on the Nov-Dec issue of PBoss. Your bgill article may be in his schedule for an issue in the first half of 2005. I am anxious to read all about how you grow the big bluegills and your details for compensatory feeding. I know just enough about compensatory feeding to get myself into trouble.

You can find pictures of the Superworms by doing a websearch for their species name, "Zophobas Morio." To me, they look like larger, paler Mealworms.

Bob Lusk has contacted me and let me know he was going to be busy for a while, however he would call me when he had a break from his schedule. I didn't know if he was interested in an article but I started writing one anyway. If it's not right for Pond Boss I would probably submit it to In-Fisherman. They gave me a page and a couple of photos on wiper fishing earlier this year.
I'd love to discuss all of my knowledge on compensatory feeding--enough to fill a thimble. I'm no Dr. Morris but I do have some interesting anecdotal findings to report after trying it for two growing seasons.
I'll get back to you on the shipping for 'crawlers. Today was so busy at work I never came up for air and then I crossed town during rush hour to attend my daughter's volleyball game. Whew!

I misread the topic as "Hungry Readers" and I thought it was a thread for fish recipes...

That's hilarious! I'm eating smoked wild Alaskan Salmon right now. Bill Cody--Can you check on Knutson's phone number again for me, please? My phone company says it's an invalid number.

Sorry Bruce,, I used the 800 number for Michigan residents. Knutson's number for non MI, other USA states & Canada is 1-800-248-9318. I went back and also corrected the number in the previous post.

bruce i have raised redworms in north texas. We set a large cattle feeder down in the dirt filled it with soil and bought some worms. We fed them coffee grounds and whatever else would have gone down the garbage disposal. They multiply very quickly.

Shipping for live big 'ol Canadian Crawlers from Knutsons is only $7/thousand. Not bad. I'm going to check with my local bait guy and see if he's interested in getting some as well.

Bruce, If you are able to pull this off ( with your wife)- I would gladly donate the cow manure necessary for your little enterprise.
I am definitely taking notes on this one!

As a matter of fact, I do have a pickup. And I'm not afraid to haul a little manure!

Who would've known that being a pondmeister automatically qualified one to be a legal analyst?

Well, Father's day was quite an experience. My Dad and I went fishing at my bigger (1.25 acre) pond and didn't have any success with the big bluegills. Not even a bite. So, at his suggestion we tried one of the growout ponds that we're trying to raise a few big 'gills on pellets. This pond had been the recipient a few months ago of the redears that I was trying to raise on nightcrawlers this winter. He did catch one and here's the result. Needless to say, I was pretty happy and he was too. I guess the redears are thriving and I got to deliver a good father's day present. By the way, this fish was just over 11 inches long.
