I installed my overflow pipe the best i could with what i had to work with (long story). ON the inlet side, the pipe stubs out of the levee with no elbow or anyting, (just straight, horizontal with the water). ON the discharge side it has a 90 degree elbow the water will bubble out from the top, kinda like a well. Will this work ok? Just not sure if i should have put a 90 on the inlet side? Hope i explained this ok.

Thanks!

I would be worried that sticks or small logs could enter in the pipe then jam at the elbow restricting the flow of water. If the pipe clogs up and the lake overflows over the dam, it could wash out the dam. Do you have an natural spillway in case the pipe clogs up?

We have several lakes under our care with the overflow you describe. The biggest concern is erosion immediately around the pipe on the backside of the dam. Lots of riprap or concrete break water's fall. Be sure to stop that problem. In northern areas of the country, that style pipe will freeze, but not likely in southern Louisiana.
