I have heard pretty much the same as Chris. I too have a 30 year old tree smack dab in the middle of my damn dam! oops! I also have 8 or 10 smaller trees on the back side of my dam, half of which are already dead. I know that this is an expensive repair bill just waiting to happen, but nothing I can do right now. I would leave them be until you are forced to do something about them if they are much more than saplings.
