I tried searching for this and guess I dont know how to search for what I am asking as I am sure it has been covered somewhere so sorry about that.

I am about to buy a 1/4 hp rotary vain pump and would like to run 2 difusers (3/4 acre pond 11' deep with avg of probably 6' pond is an irregular quadrilateral shape) The pump will be 300' from the pond edge in my well house.

It appears that most dual systems hook up with a dual valve manifold on the pump and there are 2 lines running from the pump to the pond (twice the hose!!!)

can or should I run a single line out the pump 300' (maybe a bigger diameter?), to a junction box at ponds edge and split the line there with a dual valve?

Yes you can and I would do it that way

I would run from the pump and manifold two black polyethylene irrigaton hoses 5/8"ID (sold as 1/2"). They sell it in 400ft rolls around $50 each. This allows convenient control of air flow at the pump. One 3/4" ID airline from the pump to the valve box at the pond will also work but you will need a valve junction box buried near the pond edge.

Thank you. The black poly tubing is rated at 60psi max and is quite a bit cheaper and can be buried so that seems like a good option. 60 psi is plenty right? I�m looking at a 1/4 hp rotary vane pump.

A rotary vane is designed to operate at 10psi and can only produce 30psi for a short period before the vanes crack and break.
