I believe I would call the company and ask questions. I have used deer feeders for a LONG time, lots of different types and models, and never seen that happen.

Haha, well I probably voided all warranties/support when I wired in my remote switch. I don't see any negative reviews on the feeder itself so I'm fairly confident my tinkering is the cause of the problem. Its what I get for not putting my prototype through more rigorous quality assurance testing. ;-)
