the Texas feeders are around $700 for one. I have plenty of 50 gal tripod feeders i can mount on my pond. It's just a guess on my part that the damprid product would pull a lot of the moisture from the feed initially and do very little when it comes time to deal with outside humidity, not to mention rainy weather. I assume you are needing the 50 gallons of feed storage due to the frequency that you can add feed to the feeder. If that's not the case, only adding a few gallons of feed at a time might be possible to avoid moisture caking.
CJ- I have used a deer feeder with a 50 gallon drum for the last few years. It works reasonably well, but better with smaller feed (aquamax 300-400) because the bigger 500-600 feed size tends to get caught in the spinning apparatus attached to the bottom of the feeder. This is something to think about, but sure beats spending $700 (unless you have the dough). As far as humidity, GA may have more of an effect on your feed than OK weather, although OK does get pretty humid. I never had a problem with the feed getting wet since I always kept a lid on the top of the drum, even after lots of rain.
One thing to think about is placement. OK has gotten 22 inches of rain in 180 days. Since I I put the feeder in 2 years ago, the new, higher water level engulfed the feeder and now it probably isn't functional.
In any event, a deer feeder is a good way to feed fish, especially from an economic standpoint. CC
Been using this feeder for 7 years now. Put on a floating platform in 2015. Feeder was 100 bucks floating platform was about 75 bucks. I throw AM600 for the most part is works fine. If it's real humid out sometimes the food wont fall down onto the plate it happens from time to time but it's never effected my fish they just wait till the next feed time is all. LOL...

Mine works great. Have had it since spring of 2013 with no problems. I would like to try the directional bottom as I just modded mine with a chunk of aluminum to shoot 170* or so.
I would like to find a 6 volt relay. The fling motor will take 12 volts no problem but the timer and clock will not. I would place the relay and 12volt battery inside the feeder where the bottom motor plugs in. The 6 volt from timer to 6v relay would connect the 12v to the motor. Good 50' throw then.
I would just bag the relay and battery inside the bin and use the same plug ends. Just a gel motorbike battery.
Right now as stock it throws 5mm feed about 15 feet.
