I have fished for striped bass and they were in 20 to 40 foot of water, in a 190 foot lake, in the warmer months. Then in Dec and Jan. they will come up or move up the river. To get some size 35 to 45 lbs. they need a lot of food, shad. So they need large lakes. They do not spawn but I have seen them stripped for eggs to go to a hatchery. This was 20 years ago so things may have changed.
