Pond Boss Forums INTRO Questions & Observations Portable Fish finder for pond?

I'm curious if any of you all have tried a portable fish finder. I hope it isn't a rules violation on the forum to give a brand name. I received a flyer from a well known outdoors retailer today and I see they have a Deeper Smart Portable Fish Finder on sale. Decent price.
I looked at reviews and YouTube videos it seems ok at first glance, but I don't trust the retailer reviews. I'd rather get real life feedback. Moderators, please just delete this post if I've violated any rules.
Anyone tried this Deeper Smart Portable Fish Finder? Gets temp readings, depth readings, and marks fish. Easy to use from the bank or a canoe.

I had one some years back for my 8 acre lake and it worked well - I do not remember the brand but I used it for a number of years - was pretty cool to use on a pond - mine was around 30 feet deep

Thanks Tim. I've got a pretty good handle on depth, but I add a few million leaves every fall, so it might tell me if I'm getting some accumulated debris in spots.
Plus, I may have a thousand fish or I may not, I'm hoping to get a little more info. My HSB have so far eluded me for two years now, maybe a locator will help, who knows.
Glad you had one that worked. I guess it's been available for several years. It was weird, I looked at a few you tube videos, they were all done overseas. I only looked at four videos though. Nothing was very recent.

my dad in law always had an Eagle Ultra Classic portable fish finder. he would put it in the aluminum boat when on vacation and the boats were not his. They are still on ebay for $50. Only downside is that they took like 8 D cell batteries which costs a fortune these days. I rigged up a lead acid 12v battery that would fit in the battery case (like in a security camera) and that gave us at least the chance to recharge it every night.

I'm sure there are newer models with better graphics, more compact, consume less power since these are popular for ice fishing.

I purchased a Deeper unit this spring. Haven't really had a chance to use it all that much yet, but it does everything as advertised. Pretty useful little unit. To me, the only drawback is that it quits functioning when the water is 3 or 4 feet deep. In a pond setting, that's a lot of water that you can't cover.

I have one too and mine is weak on showing fish unless they are large. I does a good job of showing the pond bottom and distinguishing between hard bottom, soft bottom, and vegetation. My pond is full of fish but it rarely shows any fish except a single large one occasionally. I suspect those are HSB or SMB. I think they have a newer model than mine so perhaps it is better.

Hmmm, I don't have that many large fish. 25 HSB, and 60 (now 59) SMB.
I'd like to know where those HSB hang out. Maybe this will help. I just have one acre, and it could be a bit smaller than that. Basically a square pond. Not tons of cover, but enough. I still have lots of FHM, and lots and lots of GSH.
I may give this thing a try. My birthday is next month.
